Under New Management Theme of the Week: Take the Divine Dare Tuesday, July 14, 2009
 1 of 1

Key Bible Verse: Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts (1 Thessalonians 2:4). Bonus Reading: Romans 14:7-9
Ryan is freely shedding tears over a restaurant breakfast as he prays with a companion. After years of internal struggle, this 23-year-old is surrendering his life to Jesus. ThisĀ ends his long search for a faith that would challenge him to the depths of his being. So he's not settling for a comfortable status quo, with Jesus added on to guarantee his safety and well-being.
Fast forward nine months … Ryan is now on a plane, heading for Bangladesh to serve Christ among its tiny Christian minority. He'll have plenty of opportunity to grow in his new-found faith within the Bangladeshi churches.
To the Bangladeshi Christians, Ryan is coming as a much-needed reinforcement— the first English teacher the children have ever had whose mother tongue is English.
To Ryan, being redirected on a course he'd never have anticipated or designed for himself makes perfect sense. Living with a different motivation from a strength not his own, Ryan has accepted God's offer of an adventure with a purpose—teaching poor, orphaned Bangladeshi kids to speak English so that in the process they'll find both Jesus and a future.

My Response: Is my life marked by purpose and adventure? What is lacking?
Thought to Apply: There are two great moments in a person's life: the moment you were born and the moment you realize why you were born. —Kirbyjon Caldwell
