Who Said It … Ed McGlasson
Ed McGlasson was a lineman for the Rams, Jets, and Giants in the early 1980s, and could muscle up to 605 pounds on the bench press. His own natural father was killed in a U.S. Navy plane crash while his mother was pregnant with him. But his stepfather helped him reach his dream of playing in the NFL.
Now Ed is pastor of the Stadium Vineyard Church in Anaheim, California. He and Jill are the parents of five children.
What He Said … Vacation Vibes
For another summer vacation, we packed both our cars with our five kids, Labrador retriever, and fun necessities and headed up to Mammoth Mountain. But as we were unpacking, my wife told me that Edward, our 11-year-old, was upset. "Why?" I asked.
"He said that every year up here he never gets to do what he likes," she said.
"But we go fishing and hiking," I protested.
"Yeah, but he feels like you don't want to do what he wants to do," she explained.
"Well, what does he want to do?" I asked.
"You need to ask him."
So, I wandered over to Edward. "Hey, Edward," I said, "what do you want to do on vacation?"
"Really?" Edward asked uncertainly.
"Yeah," I said. "Don't you want to go fly fishing? Remember that big fish you caught last year in your float tube?"
"No, Dad, I don't like fly fishing," Edward answered.
"Why not?" I asked. [continued 7/6]
