Who Said It … Mike Foster

Mike Foster gives creative leadership to PlainJoe Studios, an innovative design company; and he is the driving force behind Ethur, a nonprofit ministry seeking to have a spiritual impact on culture. Mike also founded an online ministry to those impacted by porn called XXXchurch.com. He and his buddy Jud Wilhite coauthored Deadly Viper Character Assassins—the book from which this week's readings are adapted. Mike and his wife, Jennifer, have two children and a slobbery bulldog. They live in Southern California.

Who Said It … Cinematic Slipups

Back in 2003, a film crew followed me around as I went about my work with XXXchurch.com—a ministry to those struggling with porn addiction. I had cameras recording my actions and microphones picking up my every word.

When the film was released, there were a few scenes that caused me to cringe. As I sat there in the theater with friends, family, and strangers, I squirmed as my questionable judgment and behavior was broadcast on a 30-foot wide movie screen. I was especially embarrassed by a scene where I basically made a huge joke about a disability. I couldn't believe I'd done that, but there it was in full cinematic color. Seeing my past actions broadcast right before my eyes brought a lot of clarity to my life.

How would your life change if you knew you'd see it all played out on television tomorrow? I challenge you to live each day as if those details could be broadcast to the world.

Adapted from Deadly Viper Character Assassins by Mike Foster and Jud Wilhite (Zondevan, 2009) by permission.
