Brian Doerksen is a songwriter, recording artist, author, conference speaker, and pastor. Brian was born and raised on the west coast of Canada. He and Joyce, his wife of nearly 25 years, are raising their six children in the home he grew up in. Having written such well-known praise songs as "Now Is the Time to Worship" and "Refiner's Fire," Brian's latest worship album is It's Time. He is the author of Make Love, Make War—his first book.

The picture that popped into my head was surprising. Puzzling, even. It wasn't the kind of picture one would expect to get in the middle of worship. This picture looked like one of the memorable scenes from the hippie movement—a number of bedraggled-looking young people holding up a sign. The sign read: "Make Love, Not War."

As I continued looking, one of the words began to change. Now the sign read: "Make Love, Make War." As soon as that one word changed, I sensed the presence of God; he was now holding the sign.

Could God possibly be saying something that provocative?

I believe we know that love and war are at the heart of everything inside us and everything going on all around us. We know that we are in the middle of an ancient war. We sense that there is nothing that Satan hates more than the worship of God by those who are faithful to the Lamb. And he is greatly relieved when we drop our swords and retreat from the battle. He laughs when we lose heart and fall away from God.

God is saying something provocative. He's provoking us to rise up!Who Said Itwhat he Said
