Who Said It … Carey Casey
Carey Casey is CEO of the National Center for Fathering. Carey has earned a reputation as a dynamic communicator and compassionate ambassador, especially among men, fathers, and those in the sports community. His career has included serving as chaplain for the 1988 Summer Olympic Games and several NFL teams. He was also co-pastor of a church in inner-city Chicago and spent 18 years in various roles with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Carey and his wife, Melanie, have four children and two grandchildren. What He Said … Dad, Are You Watching?
One evening not long ago, Chance called me from the other side of the house: "Dad, come down here!"
It sounded important, so I headed toward the sound of his voice. I found him standing by the back door. "Follow me, Dad," he said. "I have to show you something." Soon we were in the neighbor's yard, next to a large tree.
"What do you need, son?" I asked.
"Watch this," he said. "Get your watch and time me."
He began climbing the tree. That had always been a challenge for Chance; now that he could do it, he just had to show me. He kept looking back down to see if I was watching.
That look of accomplishment on his little face stayed with me. If I'd been rude and ignored him because I was too busy or bored, I'd have missed it.

Heavenly Father, show me how to truly care about the details of my children's lives; help me to be patient with their immaturity; guide me as I seek to discipline in God-honoring ways; help me to always love them unconditionally.
