The more we fix our eyes upon Jesus, the more we feed upon his Word, the more we know the Holy Spirit's power and presence at work in our lives—the more we will become like him. Those who live in the knowledge, nearness, and love of Jesus will be transformed.
You may not be where you're aiming to be, but I can bet you're not where you once were. Look back over a couple of weeks or months, and you may indeed see the same old inconsistencies raising their ugly heads. Perhaps there are still patterns of speaking or thinking, or habits and addictions that don't seem compatible with a life of reverent worship. But take a look a little further back—survey your life from when you were first adopted into his love. Do you see how over the years you've taken giant leaps forward in faith and made holy progress in your walk with him? Yes, the power of Jesus could change you in an instant—and at times it will. But in other seasons he transforms us little by little. Sometimes we hardly seem to notice it—until we look back over our journey and realize that we look more like Jesus now than we ever did before.
