Key Bible Verses: "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!" (Matthew 13:45-46) Dig Deeper: Matthew 13:44; 1 Timothy 6:11-19
Too many men are satisfied with being on the practice squad. Too many men are satisfied with living an ordinary life. They are either not thinking about greatness at all, or they are thinking about it according to the world's grid for greatness.
Imagine if some [pranksters] broke into a store and exchanged the tags. They took a $12,000 tag off a Rolex and put it on a Timex. They took the Timex tag of $99 and put it on the Rolex. Imagine they did this with everything in the store. The next day people would come in and spend a lot of money on the worthless items and little money on the expensive ones.
We live in a culture that has switched the tags on greatness. Our culture has put a lot of value on cars and careers but only ten cents on integrity, family, and impact.
God stands in the locker room of our souls with a personal bid for greatness, as long as that greatness comes under his authority and is expressed to reflect his glory. This is something that the world doesn't value but something that eternity has deemed as priceless. Understanding the value of true greatness is the key to experiencing all you were destined to be.
—Tony Evans in Kingdom Man
My Response: I will reflect on today's Key Bible Verses, thinking about what I truly value.
Thought to Apply: Great men are meteors designed to burn so that the earth may be lighted.—Napoleon Bonaparte (French general, emperor)
