What he Said … Not Quite Right
I meant to buy Apple Jacks. I was supposed to buy Apple Jacks. I thought I did buy Apple Jacks. When I grabbed the box. When I paid for it. When I took it out of the bag and put it on the counter. When I opened it and poured its contents into bowls. When I put the spoon to my mouth. But that's when I realized: it wasn't Apple Jacks. I looked again at the box: it said Apple Macks. I had been bamboozled!
You can hardly blame me. The boxes were right next to each other. They were the same height, same color, used the same font. But as I tasted what I had purchased, I knew I didn't have the real thing. It's an easy mistake to make. They almost look the same; even the taste is close. But it's just not quite it.
Do you think it's possible we've been duped into buying a cheap imitation of following God, and that has led us to live a cheap imitation of life?
