Key Bible Verses: The LORD shows us how we should live, and he is pleased when he sees people living that way. If they stumble, they will not fall, because the LORD reaches out to steady them. (Psalm 37:23-24, ERV)

Dig Deeper: Psalm 37

[If you're tracking with what we've said throughout this week,] you've already got the "who" you serve portion figured out: God. Now you decide the "how" portion of how you live: you commit to going the route of faithfulness. That means you're …

  • determined
  • unyielding
  • enduring
  • steady
  • immovable
  • unshakable

Are you beginning to see it?

The real win [we're talking about] means trusting the Lord and walking with Jesus no matter what. That kind of faithfulness is possible for any man who follows God with all his heart.

No matter what circumstances threaten him, a faithful man is the most truly confident man in the room.

You may be reading this and agreeing with it in principle but still thinking something like, Yeah, but if I can just get this or that, then I'll be happy. Or, If I can experience this or that then I'll be fulfilled.

Quit pursuing [what can't satisfy]. Instead, run to Jesus.

—Matt Carter and Colt McCoy in The Real Win

My Response: What step of faith can I take right now to demonstrate that I'm ready to follow God wherever he might lead?

Thought to Apply: The world defines success in terms of what a person possesses, controls, or accomplishes. God defines success in terms of faithful obedience to his will.—Ken Sande (attorney, conflict resolution expert)

Prayer for the Week
Heavenly Father, forgive me when I focus more on success than on obedience; impress on my heart that lasting satisfaction only comes from an ever-deepening relationship with you.

i can continue to follow you, dear Lord, no matter what the outcome of my prayers. i must listen to your voice and obey its guidance and wisdom on a daily basis. If i can be obedient in this small step, my faith walk with Jesus will be strengthened. i'll be able to lean on him wihen future decisions come my way. In Jesus name, Amen.
