Key Bible Verse: I find rest in God; only he can save me. (Psalm 62:1, NCV)
Dig Deeper: Psalm 62:5-8
Have we forgotten who we are as human beings, created in the image of God and the very beloved of God?
A life out of control, a life spinning on the hamster wheel, and a life running on empty are all indicators that something is wrong. We want it all, but the problem is that the it keeps changing; the bar we have to jump over to succeed keeps getting higher, and then there's the shame we wallow in when we fail. Something is missing.
Rhythm is missing. Rather than trying harder to do it all better, how can we rediscover a rhythm that is sustainable and life-giving?
Our problem with the famous verse from Ecclesiastes about there being "a time for everything" is that we want everything crammed into now, we simply do not like to wait for the next "time" to come around.
Have we forgotten who we are as human beings, created in the image of God and the very beloved of God? Do we have to live by a standard that robs us of our souls as image bearers of God and lowers us to teeth-baring, annihilating creatures? This is the lie we've bought. It's all an illusion.
Can you imagine your life with less stress, less fatigue, and less discouragement? How about more peace, more hope, and more joy?

Prayer for the Week
Heavenly Life-Giver, help me escape the tyranny of the urgent for a healthy, less-hurried lifestyle; may I pause and see each day as a precious gift from you, and may I encourage others to do the same.
