Key Bible Verse: "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field." (Matthew 13:44)

Dig Deeper: Matthew 13

My daughter first went to Disney World when she was five. As we entered the park, [her] eyes began to dance. She saw everything in day-bright color, blasting into her field of vision and as we pounded down Main Street toward the first leg of our plan for park domination, she kept stopping. "Look at that!" "Oh, what's this?" "Can we do that?"

The plan was getting derailed. The park was a scheduled, contained, physical, and public situation for the adults. For the child, the curious one, it had no boundaries. She saw more because she had space within her soul to receive it all as new and beautiful. So we adults began to repent. We walked slower, we waited together, and we began to recapture a bit of the brilliance for ourselves. We began to think differently.

If the kingdom of God is the boundless work of a good Father for his children, why wouldn't we want to relent of our certainty? Why wouldn't we want to repent and reclaim the curiosity of a child for what might be possible if that kingdom really is "near"?
