Today's Tower of Babel
Key Bible Verse:
The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. …
It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever

In 1998, Senate Special Committee on Y2K chair Senator Robert Bennett reported, "One of the experts said to me, 'The one thing we know for sure about this is that we have no historical precedent to guide us, to tell us what we can expect.'
"Yet when I made that comment to a friend of mine, he said, 'No, Bob, that's not true. We have a historic example.'
"I said, 'What is it?'
"He said, 'the Tower of Babel. The people got together and decided they were going to build a tower to heaven, and God didn't like it, so he fixed it so they could not talk to each other and that ended it.' "
In the Babel civilization, men sought to define themselves and their world apart from God. God said, "I don't think so."
Men in those days feared being scattered. God scattered them. They dreamed of perpetual unity. God divided them. They confessed with one tongue the glories of man and the works of man's hand. God gave mankind a multitude of languages. The society of Babel disappeared. Such is the fate of every New World Order that challenges the kingdom of God.
