For Men Only!

Hey Dad,

How's your month going? We had our second advent night planned for last night, but I had to pull myself out of the game. I was afraid I might go berserk. It was just one of those days. Instead, we watched The Muppet Christmas Carol, ate popcorn, and sucked on dynamite-stick-sized candy canes. The advent night is rescheduled for tonight.

I'm writing to remind you that there are only 15 days 'til Christmas. Translation … you only have two weeks left to get your wife a gift. (At this point, if there are any women folk reading this e-mail, please back away from the computer.)

Okay, here's the deal, Dad. This is one of those window opportunities to show your wife how much you love her. Don't muff it.

What? You say you don't get your wife a present?

Reindeer feathers!

Christmas is a time for giving gifts. Husbands give gifts to wives. That's just the way it is.

Now there are several types of gifts, but for our purposes we'll divide them into two groups:

  1. —The kind that say, "I love you."
  2. —The kind that don't.

For example, a silver ring engraved with the word "Forever" says, "I love you." A Crock-Pot doesn't. Now don't try to convince me that your wife is the practical type and would rather have a new iron than a piece of jewelry 'cause I'm not buying it.

There isn't a woman alive who wouldn't feel loved, cherished, and delighted to unwrap a small token of love from her man. It'll take some doing and you'll have to spend a little money, but your wife is worth it.

Oh, Oh … I almost forgot. If you do stockings for the kids, you need to do one for your wife. Fill it with all kinds of stuff from warm socks, Chap Stick, and her favorite candy to … a lacy little something.

Dad, I'm not kidding about this. I overheard one wife last year talking to a bunch of ladies about the ring her husband bought her for Christmas. She beamed and said, "I always wanted to be one of those women who could say, 'My husband bought this ring for me.' Now I can!"

He scored. Big time.

So can you.

You 'da dad!
