Todd Wilson's Familyman Weekly Calling All Dads Todd Wilson Friday, February 13, 2004
 1 of 1

Hey Dad,
I need your help. You know, a little accountability for the ol' familyman. As many of you know, we're expecting Wilson baby #6 in the next week or so, and I've got a little dilemma. Actually, it shouldn't be a dilemma. I know what I need to do because my wife told me.
The other day when we were talking, she casually mentioned how needy she feels after the baby comes. She wants me to hold her, talk to her, and share how we "feel." You know, like I love and care about her more than life itself.
The problem is: I'm a guy, and we guys have been known to blow a sure thing. I do it all the time. I usually know what my wife needs, but somewhere in the inner recesses of my psyche (whatever that means) I get stupid and go off and work on the computer or clean the garage instead of meeting her need.
You're shaking your head either in disgust or agreement.
Here's where you come in. I need you to hold me to it. After the baby comes … and really up until he/she arrives, as well, I want to love my wife. I want to hold her, stroke her back, be helpful, and share "feelings." But my ugly side is pretty strong.
I'm counting on you, so hold me to it. Okay?
Oh, by the way, your wife was talking to my wife the other day, and she told me that your wife feels needy of your love too. Your wife mentioned that she just wants you to hold her (not grope her), talk to her, and share your "feelings" together.
So … I guess now you don't have any excuses either.
So let's get loving!
You 'da dad!
