Todd Wilson's Familyman Weekly
It's a Girl Thing
Thursday, April 5, 2007

Hey Dad,

It's a blustery, snowy day up here in northern Indiana … perfect for getting the old Familyman Mobile packed and ready … NOT! T-minus 7 days and counting, and there's still a gob of stuff to do. It seems as though every time I fix one thing, I spot another thing that needs my attention. And then the guy at Napa had to go and say that gas is expected to get up near $4 by summer (multiply that by a 75-gallon tank—gulp!).

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you can keep up-to-date on our travels by reading our website RV blog that is up and running. I also posted a Travel Edition of the Familyman Show Todcast to help you get in the vacation mode. If you're not sure what podcasting is, just click on the link (below), and then hit the play button. It's that simple.

I also want to remind you to get the women in your life an inexpensive corsage for Easter Sunday. I know I say that every year, but I'm telling you this little fathering tip works. Every year, dads and moms write and tell me how much love a little flower pinned on a dress communicates.

Believe me, it's a girl thing. Even my daughter little Maggie Rose (just barely 3) has been talking for the past week about a new dress that she gets to wear. You should see her face light up. Our other daughter Katherine (10) doesn't know it yet, but her mom and I picked out a pretty (yet inexpensive), Eastery dress for her as well. We'll lay it out on her bed as a surprise, and her face will beam when she holds it up. And then I'll pin on their corsages … oooh doggie!

I can't wait.

All that for a few bucks and a little effort … but it pays huge dividends. So as soon as I get done typing this, I'll call the Milford Florist and order corsages, pick them up in a day or so, tuck them in the back of the fridge … and then go see if my RV fridge is still working.

Oh, one more thing, Dad, before I go … be extra helpful this Sunday at church. Help get the kids ready, give your wife plenty of time to get herself ready, and then make sure you take a picture of your pretty family. Your wife will like that … it's a girl thing.

You 'da Dad,
