Hey Dad,

Just a quick note to thank you for being on the Familyman Team. You don't know how encouraged I am to be part of this huge group of dads who struggle and fall short, but still keep on plugging away, trying to love and meet the needs of their families.

Hardly a day goes by that I'm not challenged by your questions, comments, and stories. In fact, you make me glad to be a dad.

So, let me say, "Thank you," and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and encourage you to make this weekend a great one—because the thing about great weekends is that they don't just happen—they're made.

I know my kids can hardly wait for this weekend, not just because they like Thanksgiving, but also because on Saturday, as we have done since they were born, we'll pack up the van and head over to the local Christmas tree farm to cut down the 2007 Wilson family Christmas tree.

Later that night, we'll hang ornaments, drink sparkling grape juice, and bask in the glow of my new LED Christmas tree lights that use about a billionth of the power of the old house-fire-starting kind that we've always used in the past.

Two weeks ago, I spoke at a marriage retreat in Wisconsin, and all the room was abuzz with the anticipation of Deer Hunting Season.
