Praying for Tyrants

Hey Dad,
I was talking to a fellow Familyman from Florida (I like the sound of that) last week, and I could hear the tiredness in his voice. Because of past conversations I asked him, "You being a tyrant?"
Without hesitating, he answered, "Yeah, man."
"Me too," I said. Maybe it is all the busyness and having kids who could care less about how busy I am and who need so much attention. Without thinking I said, "How about I pray for you and you pray for me?"
He said he would, and I have been praying for him since then that he won't be a tyrant, that he will live with his wife in an understanding way, and that he’ll love his family.
That's when I started thinking that maybe it’s really that simple. Maybe it doesn’t have to be through accountability groups and partners (who often just lie to one another). Maybe it's just about two tyrant dads who pray for one another faithfully. Cause don't you just suppose that if I pray (and I mean regularly) and ask God to help my fellow dad not to respond a certain way that God will honor that prayer and help him not to respond a certain way? I do.
So my fellow tyrant dad, can I encourage you to find another dad and say, "How about I pray for you and you pray for me?" And then do it. You know that just might change the world … or at least help a few dads not to be tyrants.
