Watching Over Us Todd Wilson Thursday, July 8, 2010
 1 of 1

Hey Dad,
Just got back from speaking in downtown Akron, OH, and other than the horrific experience of losing one of my children for a while, we had a great time. Now let the records show that it was NOT my fault … not that I haven't 'misplaced' a kid or two in my day, but I was totally innocent this time.
One of my teenagers was supposed to be watching a video with four of the younger boys in the RV while my wife and I were inside at the convention. After a short time, my wife returned and asked, "Where's Jed [our two-year-old]?"
After assessing the situation, she wisely called 911, and after a few frantic minutes the 911 operator said, "I think we have your son." I finally showed up on the scene and sprinted down a hill to see a policeman step around the corner carrying my son. Ahhh …
We later learned he had wandered out of the RV, was pulled out of a downtown street, held up at a music concert that was taking place (to see if he belonged to anyone), and then spotted by someone who had seen him on our website and recognized him as belonging to us. The policeman was super nice about the whole thing, but we felt like loser parents.
Later, as I walked around, sobered by the event, I visualized my little boy touring the city of Akron all by himself, alone and scared. It tore me up thinking that no one was watching him, when in a gentle, reassuring whisper God said, "I never took my eyes off him, Todd."
He's right. We can't watch over them every second but God can, and he does. And he is watching over your children right now, no matter where they are or what they're doing. You know why? Because He's 'DA DAD!!! And I'm sure glad he is.
You 'da Dad,
