National Pray for a Dad Day
Todd Wilson
Thursday, April 14, 2011

Hey Dad,

Buckle your seatbelts—the Familyman Mobile is pulling out of the driveway right now. I feel a little like Gilligan heading out for a routine three-hour cruise. You know how that one ended up.

I'm not sure we're ready. We just de-winterized it yesterday and packed our clothes this morning. I usually like all that done at least a week before lift-off. Not this time. Just to make sure nothing was majorly wrong, I ran it down the road three miles and it purred like a panther.

Anyway, first stop … Montgomery, AL. I'm hoping for some nice warm weather. We were in Cincinnati this past weekend, and it was cold. Aside from the not-so-stellar weather, it was great to meet lots of familymen. I feel so grateful to be on the same team as you.

One thing I noticed was how many dads are struggling (read - all of us). There are guys whose marriages are on the rocks, whose kids are in trouble, who are jobless, hopeless, and about to toss in the towel.

As I felt its heaviness today, I thought we need to really pray for dads. So by the power vested in me as the Familyman, I declare this National Pray for Dads Day.

Would you stop right now and pray for those unnamed (and those you know) dads who need God to work in their lives.

Pray for:

  • dads who are without work,
  • dads who are fighting for their marriages,
  • dads whose hearts are broken for their children,
  • dads who NEED to be fighting for their marriages and families,
  • dads who are contemplating a purpose change,
  • dads who are about to do something … bad,
  • dads who are just tired and ready to give up,
  • And the dad who is driving down the road in a big RV with eight children and a wife who needs his attention. Pray that he would be patient, easy going, and steady as a rock

You 'da dad,
