Going back to our previous examples, what would it look like to show humility in sports? Turns out we've already got a word for it: sportsmanship. Though it may make for more boring interviews, the concept of sportsmanship encourages athletes to look beyond the moment when they feel disrespected and show their opponents and all other participants respect in return. It's possible to compete hard and still show good sportsmanship.
You might get status and honor on earth by being a self-promoter, but that reward is fleeting. True and lasting status and honor come from cultivating a servant's heart.
