Finding Peace
Thank you so much for the article on being a mom in today's superficial, non-relationship, pressure-cooker world ("No Time for God," July/August). I am a late-in-life mom and as I read your article, I was on the verge of tears. It was as if someone had heard the cries of my heart. My life seems to be a circus act of spinning plates.
I am a very organized and efficient person at work, but I can't seem to keep up with the demands at home. I am on the edge and overwhelmed with frustration, resentment, and guilt because I'm not able to take care of everything.
I want my home to be a happy place where we can invite people to share a meal or chat over coffee, but it seems that maintaining relationships with friends and the Lord just add to the frustrations and to my feelings of failure.
The tips and encouragement in this article helped me realize that "survival mode" is only one season in my life that won't last forever and that I'm not alone. Christine Williams Orange, California
Lend a Helping Hand
"Raising Kids Who Care" from the July/August issue was very helpful. It was great to see the different ideas that can bring a family closer together as they help their community. Mrs. T.L. Hendrick via e-mail
Nurturing Prayer
This is a wonderful article ("Let the Children Pray," July/August). It was helpful and down-to-earth. As a grandmother, I'm always looking for things like this that can help my daughter teach her daughter even more ways to talk to God. Thank you for thinking of our children. Rebecca Welch via e-mail
Don't Forget
I would like to suggest one more tip for the article, "Get Hooked on Fishing" in the July/August issue. After you purchase your rod and reel, don't forget to buy a fishing license. It is required if you want to fish in public areas. We want to be the model of law abiding parents, too! Jeff Sims Signal Mountain, Tennessee
Controlling TV Habits
The article "Too Much TV" by Jane Elliott Althens ("Growing Up, July/August) was fantastic! I could relate to the article and Ms. Althens' way of communicating. Heidi Sanford Hong Kong
We'd love to hear from you!
