Easter Blessing Eggs
Make these colorful eggs with your kids as a reminder of God's promise of eternal life.

Make these colorful Easter Blessing Eggs with your kids as a reminder of God's blessings and his promise of eternal life.

For ages 4+

You'll need:

  • 1 ball of multicolored (or solid color) crochet string, available at craft stores
  • 6 small balloons (don't use water balloons)
  • white craft glue
  • small bowl
  • ribbon
  • waxed paper
  • wet washrags
  1. Before starting this project, cover your work area with newspaper or plastic. Keep a few wet washrags handy to wipe up any spills.
  2. Blow up small balloons into egg-sized shapes approximately 6 inches in diameter (around the center) and tie off. Cut approximately 20 pieces of crochet string into 36-inch pieces (to wrap around each balloon). Pour glue into a small bowl and dip the pieces of crochet string into the glue.
  3. Wipe off excess glue and wrap each string around the balloon in different directions — up, down and on the diagonal — to create a unique design. Repeat with the other strands, randomly overlapping them, and tuck in loose ends until the balloon is evenly covered but still has some open spaces.
  4. When finished, place the stringed balloon on wax paper and allow it to dry for 24 hours. After the glue is dried, pop the balloon. Carefully pull the balloon out and immediately throw it away, out of the reach of small children.
  5. On a small piece of paper, write a blessing for which you and your child are thankful, then push the paper inside the egg. Glue a ribbon on the top and hang it as a decoration. Hot glue ribbons, pearls, lace, or other decorations on the outside to make the egg more festive.
