Borrowing a page from Bono's playbook, the
Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN) has taken their publicity campaign to the next level—by introducing a line of
red wristbands. The bands comes embossed with 90028—what the HPN terms "the world's most influential zip code"—to remind wearers to pray for America's culture-shapers and entertainment elite.
Corresponding with the wristband campaign is the launch of HPN's official
MySpace site, to be updated frequently with blog entries and specific prayer requests.
Karen Covell, the organization's founder and director, is optimistic about the campaign. "Hollywood is the seat of influence globally, and HPN wants to do our part in challenging the church to join us in praying for the people and the projects in this industry. We believe that praying for Hollywood is having an eternal impact."
Covell and her organization are adamant in urging Christians to stop boycotting Hollywood and instead do something more positive—pray for those living in "the world's most influential mission field."
