REEL NEWS
Prince Caspian Storms the Web
New TV spots and clips go online, and the Christian Post defends Lewis's "pagan" story. Plus: New clips from Indy 4; a release date for W biopic; and more.
by Josh Hurst | posted 5/12/2008

Taking full advantage of Internet technology, the promotion team for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is loading us up with teaser material, just as the cast and filmmakers take to the talk show circuit to build on the hype.

For Narnia fans who just can't wait for Thursday's midnight release of the film—and who don't mind what might be some very mild spoilers—IESB has posted four clips from the film, as well as two brief behind-the-scenes videos. Meanwhile, YouTube is hosting a clip from the film that introduces the rivalry between Peter and Caspian that has long been hinted at. And for still more early footage, new TV spots are available at NarniaWeb and at the Disney website.

Those who want to avoid any spoilers might instead check out GettyImages' photos from the film's world premiere; NarniaWeb also has some images from the event.

In a new editorial in the Christian Post, Anthony Horvath predicts that some Christian moviegoers will have some of the same concerns about Caspian that they did about Harry Potter—namely, that Lewis' novel (and the film) borrow as much from pagan mythology as they do Christian truth. He offers a defense of Lewis' use of pagan lore in telling a truthful, redemptive story—using some of Lewis' own words in his defense.
