This summer's big-screen adaptation of Sex and the City made such huge waves at the box office that it's no wonder HBO is already talking about a sequel. Though the film is still playing in theaters around the country, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo says there is "enormous interest" in doing another film. According to the New York Times, Lombardo has said that Warner Brothers is "trying, with our help, to put that together now. When that happens, how long between, can't say. But there's absolutely interest."
Despite the enthusiasm, Entertainment Weekly reports that there is no script, no deal in place, and no definite word on whether the four leading ladies are willing to return for a second film. Says EW, the stars are "taking a cautious attitude towards another film, not wanting to rush a sequel and risk disappointing their loyal fans." Still, Lombardo says HBO is "heartened" by the movie's success and keenly interested in making another one.
The Times, meanwhile, also hints at another possible HBO show turned filmThe Sopranosbut only if creator David Chase gives his approval.
