Individual – The word that most embodies one's thoughts when meeting Riley Armstrong for the first time. His contagious smile and soft-spoken voice make you feel as if you have just been reunited with a brother. Riley's individuality shines through his music, an intriguing mix of acoustic guitar and hip-hop rhythms. Growing up in Dapp, Alberta, Canada, a small farm community, Riley cultivated a style all his own. Moving to Vancouver at age 18, his individuality set him apart and led to his signing with the then-newly formed Audio Adrenaline record label, becoming their inaugural Flicker Records release.
Enthusiastic describes Riley's outlook on life. Not one to be brought down by the obstacles of life, Riley emanates an enthusiasm which lifts people up, both on stage and off. His enthusiasm for the message of the Gospel propels him to create music to touch all who hear it.
Intelligent lyrics mark Riley's songs, inviting listeners to experience what they are hearing. Lyrics such as "From a colorless past, you asked me to the paint store" (from Reborn) and "I've got to decide if I'm going to fly or let gravity keep me grounded" (from 9 point 8) connect with listeners, relating everyday struggles we all share.
Entertaining live performances are a direct result of Riley's enthusiasm for the Message. Audience members are pulled into performances as they listen to Riley's stories and hear his lyrics come to life before them. The barrier between audience and performer is nonexistent as Riley's friendly nature reaches from the stage and embraces his brothers and sisters creating an atmosphere of celebration drawing all closer to the Throne of God. Riley has shared before friends at Franklin Graham Crusades, music festivals, camps and various Christian television programs.
