The words of Shaun Groves' dad remain engraved in his son's head today, "You never learn without asking questions." So, Shaun agreed to answer some of our questions to help us learn more about this talented new artist.

Shaun's debut album, Invitation to Eavesdrop, recently came out on Rocketown Records, offering us the opportunity to peek into his life and bring out a few of the unique elements that make up this guy. He's one of the bright new singer/songwriters in the industry and, after getting to know Shaun a little better through this interview, go out and grab a copy of his album. You'll be hearing a lot about him and his music for some time to come.
What three words best describe you?
Blunt, creative, and mellow.
What three words best describe your new album, Invitation to Eavesdrop?
Honest, diverse, and vertical.
Do you have a hidden talent?
I paint and work with graphic design. You can see some of my work on the album cover.
What's the best advice your dad ever gave you?
You never learn without asking questions.
What albums are you listening to lately?
Coldplay, Wes Cunningham, and U2.
Who's your favorite author?
Tony Campolo.
What's the last book you recommended to someone?
Mere Christianity, by C. S. Lewis.
If you could go on a two-week vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Vienna, Austria.
What favorite childhood poster was on your bedroom walls?
Manute Bol. It was life-size, all 7' 7" of him.
What favorite childhood food do you still eat today?
Cheese!
What words or phrases do you overuse?
"Really," and "That rocks."
Do you collect anything?
Old hymn books.
What's your favorite hymn?
"Love Lifted Me."
Who do people say you look like?
A young Randy Travis, or one of the guys from the group Plus One. I'm not sure where that last reference comes from.
What job would you like to do for a day?
I'd like to run a radio station.
What language would you like to speak?
Spanish.
What's your favorite late night snack food?
Samoas (Girl Scout cookies).
When was the last time you were really nervous?
This week. I had a sore throat and it was tough to sing.
Meeting what person would leave you star-struck?
Billy Graham.
What musician or band would you like to record a song with someday?
The guys from Third Day.
Name three musicians/bands you'd pay to see in concert.
U2, Elton John, and dc Talk.
What band or artist would you like to receive more attention/exposure?
Wes Cunningham.
What's one thing you've overcome in your life?
Being overly concerned with the expectations of others.
What's one thing you would take out of your life if you could?
Illnesses.
What are a few of your habits?
Picking/cleaning my finger nails.
Do you subscribe to any magazines?
Yes, Wired and FaithWorks.
Tell me one thing you'd like to learn to do.
I'd like to learn to play the hammered dulcimer.
What's something you think you should do better?
I should play the piano better.
If you wrote a book, what would it be about?
The history of worship music.
What's one of your pet peeves?
Whining.
What tombstone epitaph would describe you best?
"Knew God and made Him known."
