In an announcement posted on the band's website, artist manager Tim Cook announced P.O.D. has signed a new label deal with INO Records and Columbia Records. The band is currently in the pre-production stage for their next album, which is expected in late summer. "I am thrilled to work with P.O.D.," says INO President Jeff Moseley. "I have been a big fan of the band for a long time and think they are at a special place in their career. I anticipate a landmark record." The new album will be the first from the band since the return of original guitarist Marcos Curiel to the band.
Award-winning vocalist Nicole C. Mullen will release her fourth studio album, Sharecropper's Seed Vol. 1, on April 3. Produced by Tony McAnany, the album focuses on the hardships Mullen's family faced growing up, and how faith carried them through. "Many people in my family have paid a price for me to do what I do today," says Mullen. "It just made me want to stop and honor them, give credit where credit was due, and at the same time remind us that what we do with a seed has power for generations to come."
On March 6, Word Entertainment will release WoW Hymns, an expansion of a franchise that includes WoW Hits and WoW Gospel, among others. The two-disc compilation features hymns and contemporary praise songs from Christian music's top names, plus five new recordings not available elsewhere, including Casting Crowns' "Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus," Brian Littrell's "I Surrender All," Mark Schultz's "Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing," Building 429's "Grace Greater Than Our Sin," and Point Of Grace's "All Hail The Power Of Jesus' Name."
Soon-to-retire youth-group staple Audio Adrenaline will finish up the rest of its winter and spring touring commitments without longtime members Ben Cissell and Tyler Burkum. The group, which will rejoin MercyMe on the Coming Up to Breathe Tour February 16, has tapped former AudioA guitarist Brian McSweeney and ex-Bleach drummer Jared Byers to replace them. Both Cissell and Burkum will be back for the band's final concert in Honolulu.
CCM veteran Geoff Moore is ready to make his return with Speak to Me, his first album in five years and his first with Rocketown Records. Co-produced by Moore and Dwayne Larring, Speak to Me is preceded by first single "When I Get Where I'm Going," a duet with Watermark's Christy Nockels that was first popularized by country stars Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton. From March through May, Moore will join hands with 4Him's Mark Harris for the Every Single One Tour.
On March 6, acclaimed worship leader Brian Doerksen will release his first studio album, and his fourth with Integrity Music. Holy God features duets with Christine Denté (Out of the Grey) and Joseph Williams (Toto), and contributing songwriting from fellow worship leaders Paul Baloche and Brenton Brown. Doerksen is responsible for 25 albums as an artist or producer, and has written such worship standards as "Come Now Is the Time to Worship," "Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing)," and "Refiner's Fire."
The children's music arm of Hillsong will release its third album, Supernatural, on February 27. Recorded live in front of 3,000 kids, Supernatural includes some of Hillsong's most popular choruses ("Shout to the Lord," "Everyday," "Better Than Life"), plus other new songs and a cover of Israel & New Breed's "Not Forgotten." Other ministry resources will also be available, including a DVD and a CD-ROM songbook.
Matt Brouwer recently signed a distribution agreement with TAG Artist Group, which will allow him to release The B-Sides Recordings Vol. 1, a collection of new songs and previously unreleased tracks. Brouwer first rose to prominence with his Reunion Records debut Imagerical, which earned him two Top 10 radio singles, two Vibe awards, and a Juno nomination. He's since relocated to Houston, releasing Unlearning in 2004.
