Left Behind: The Movie Soundtrack Features Favorite Christian Artists
Great movies have great soundtracks and Left Behind: The Movie is no exception. Drawing on a wide range of well-known Christian artists including Michael W. Smith, Third Day, Rebecca St. James, Avalon, Plus One, SHINEmk, V*enna, Jake, Fred Hammond, Bryan Duncan, LaRue, Clay Crosse, Joy Williams, and Bob Carlisle, the album is a compilation of 15 songs covering a variety of themes, genres and stirring performances.
Left Behind: The Movie Soundtrack is an enhanced CD which includes the original 90-second movie trailer, behind the scenes footage, screensavers and wallpaper, the plan of salvation for unbelievers and links to Left Behind websites including leftbehind-themovie.com. The album releases almost one month before the video release of Left Behind: The Movie on October 31, 2000 and several months before the theatrical release of the film on February 2, 2001.
All but two songs on the Reunion Records project are new and unlike other soundtracks, the album is unique in the way that it links songs to key characters and themes in the movie. Rayford, Bruce, Chloe, Irene and Buck each have a song that represents the character's struggles, strengths and heart. In addition, the soundtrack includes the movie's theme songs (recorded by Bryan Duncan and SHINEmk), instrumental tracks from the film and a multi-artist rendition of "Midnight Cry."
"Phil and I wanted to be involved with this project because we felt it was a great opportunity to reach out to the lost," says Natalie LaRue of LaRue. "A lot of people who have read the series are not Christians, but are still drawn to something. The song we do, "Fly" is a real statement of faith. The more I go along in my spiritual walk with God the more I realize just how much I don't know and that I have to cling onto what I do know."
George King, senior vice-president and general manager of Reunion Records describes the project as one of the most exciting records of the year for the label. "This once in a lifetime recording has generated a great deal of momentum within the industry and among Christian music artists," he says. "Our simple goal was to create a listening experience that reflects the heart of the film and book. The music is contemporary and inspiring with a focus on the imminent return of Christ."
