5. B.
Isaiah. The prophet may have envisioned the OT temple sacrifices when he wrote, "he was led like a lamb to the slaughter" (53:7). In Jesus' time, the sheep used for the temple sacrifices grazed outside Bethlehem.
6. A.
Hosea. During the downfall of Israel, Hosea reminded his nation of their history, beginning with their "childhood" sojourn and exodus from Egypt (11:1), paralleling the events in the Messiah's childhood.
7. A.
Micah. This prophet preached a sobering message of God's judgment. The Temple would be destroyed and Israel's idolatrous king struck down. Yet God promised to send his people a righteous leader: "But you, Bethlehem … out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel … " (Micah 5:2).
8.
B. Mary. When Gabriel told Mary she would have a child, he said, "The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and … his kingdom will never end" (Luke 1:33). Mary and Joseph were both descendants of King David; Jesus was David's legal heir.
