Before leaving for a dinner engagement, 60-year-old Donnie Meyers decided her husband Phil's hair needed fixing. Grudgingly, he allowed her to recomb it and apply some hairspray.
Driving to their destination, the two noticed a peculiar smell in the car, which lingered the entire evening.
Arriving home, Donnie checked the expiration date on the hairspray. When she found the can, the mystery was solvedshe had mistakenly sprayed furniture polish on Phil's hair. She went to another room and enjoyed a private laugh, knowing some things are better left unsaid.

On Valentine's Day, my husband and I were busy signing cards and preparing sweets when our pastor called. Our 8-year-old son James answered and innocently said, "Mom and Dad are in the bedroom doing the Valentine's thing."
When my husband Howard returned the call, our pastor had quite a chuckle. Our Valentine's thing was actually getting treats ready for the kids.

I was swamped with calls in the church office. A woman requested the address of a missionary in Africa. I put her on hold while I looked for it.
Just then the phone rang again. On that line, a mother asked for housing ideas for her wayward daughter. I asked her to hold while I got back to the first woman.
A bit flustered, I accidentally picked up the second line. You can imagine that mother's surprise when I rattled off the African address for her wayward daughter!

My pastor-husband Scott has a sweet tooth, so I knew the chocolate chip cookies I'd just baked might disappear before I returned from running errands.
To discourage him, I taped a verse on the wrapped goodies: "'Everything is permissible for me'but not everything is beneficial
" (1 Cor. 6:12).
When I returned I found half the cookies gone and another verse attached: "The righteous eat to their heart's content, but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry" (Prov. 13:25).
