1. Solomon (2 Sam. 12:24-25). Bible scholars think that Solomon might have been his "throne name."



2. Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob (Gen. 41:45).



3. Daniel (1:6-7). He and his three friends were all given new Babylonian names.



4. Naomi, the mother-in-law of Ruth (Ruth 1:20).



5. Jacob, who was renamed Israel, and who walked with a limp afterward (Gen. 32:28).



6. Simon, whose new name "Peter" means "rock" (Matt. 16:13-17).



7. Paul, whose Hebrew name was Saul. Acts begins referring to him as Paul in 13:9.



8. Moses's (Ex. 2:18, 3:1). Since Jethro means "excellence," it may have been a title instead of his name.



9. Barnabas (Acts 4:36).



10. Sinai, where Moses and, later, Elijah both encountered the Lord.
