When my cousin Patricia got married, there were a few muffled chuckles as Paul, her husband-to-be, paused in his vows before pledging his "fidelity." At the reception, we teased him over his apparent reluctance to give up bachelorhood.
"That wasn't it at all," the bride explained. "He was just being careful. Last night at the rehearsal, he pledged all his love and 'fertility.'
"
A year later, we found out Paul's misstatement wasn't really a mistake when Patricia gave birth to twins.

Unwrapping their wedding gifts, my sister and brother-in-law were surprised at one large box marked with a picture of a Christmas tree stand. Holiday decorating space was limited in their small apartment, so they stored the box for future use.
A few years later, preparing for the first Christmas in their new house, they remembered the stand and dragged it out. Inside, there was not a stand to be found amongst the stuffing of new bath towels in the recycled box.
The not-so-newlyweds laughed at the thought of the gift giver's reaction to their thank-you note, which had read, "Thank you for the nice Christmas tree stand. I'm sure it will come in handy

Before we were married, my husband Derick and I attended the wedding of one of my coworkers. At the reception, Derick, a practical joker, continually tapped his glass (a tradition signaling the new couple to kiss). He intentionally did it when the bride and groom had food in their mouths or were on opposites sides of the room.
After the hundredth time, the groom decided he'd had enough. He walked past his bride, heading straight for us. Derick gathered up silverware to defend himself, but there was no defense against the groom's actionplanting a big smooch on my embarrassed husband's cheek.
Nary a tinkle of glass was heard the rest of the reception.
