Our Purpose
TODAY'S CHRISTIAN WOMAN takes its mission from Luke10:25-28. Our magazine and website seek to build a community of Christian women who love God with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind, and to encourage them to engage their culture and world with God's grace and redeeming power. We wrap our editorial around these four scriptural "pillars"—heart, soul, strength, and mind.

Our Readers
The TCW reader includes those mature in their Christian faith, knowledgeable about the Bible, and involved in church. But she also includes those relatively newer to the Christian faith. Almost 82 percent of our readers are married; 18 percent are single, widowed, divorced, or separated; 64 percent are employed (45 percent full-time); and 47 percent have children living at home. While our reader's median age is 42, TCW reaches women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Our Tone
TCW articles need to be personal in tone and utilize real-life anecdotes from a variety of women as well as tap into quotes from noted Christian professionals or advice from other relevant resources. Articles need to contain a distinct evangelical Christian perspective. While TCW adheres strictly to this underlying perspective in its entire editorial content, Bible quotes and references should be used selectively. If possible, please use the New International Version. Although our articles tend toward the practical, we don't shy from covering tough issues real women face. Life is messy and complex; we seek to acknowledge that by avoiding pat answers and formulaic conclusions, and look for authors who do the same.

  • TCW will report on queries and manuscripts in 8 weeks. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) of correct size, if you wish your manuscript returned.

  1. Your name and mailing address.
  2. A summary describing your article idea.
  3. The purpose of your piece and its value to the TCW reader.
  4. Your qualifications to write the piece.
  5. Suggested length and date by which you could finish it.
  6. A self-addressed stamped envelope for our reply.
Please address your query letter to the TCW Assistant Editor. No query should be sent without a thorough knowledge of TCW's audience. Mail queries and other editorial correspondence to the address on this letterhead. We encourage writers to e-mail their requested manuscripts to the Assistant Editor at tcwedit@christianitytoday.com. Please include your name, postal address, and phone number. If you mail a hard copy, double-space your typed manuscript and include your postal and e-mail address, phone number, Social Security number, and word length. Also include a SASE for possible return of the manuscript.
