Roger Standing will take over as principal of Spurgeon’s College, a key school for training Baptist leaders in the United Kingdom, in September 2013.
Standing currently serves as Spurgeon’s deputy principal, director of training, and tutor in mission, evangelism, and pioneer ministry. Come next September, though, he will replace current principal Nigel Wright, who announced his retirement in June.
Wright said he was “delighted” to hear that Standing will take over his role.
“I am sure that all the good things that Spurgeon’s has going for it will be taken up into a positive and constructive future on which he will also make his distinctive mark as one who is deeply committed to the well-being of the churches and to fulfilling our common mission,” Wright said.
CT has previously covered Spurgeon’s College, named after famous 19th-century preacherCharles Spurgeon. He was known for his ability to preach to common people.
