Some of the most interesting movie news from the past few days:

  • Do you get misty with nostalgia at the mention of the action classic Independence Day? Then you're in luck: director Roland Emmerich announced this week that there are not one, but two sequels in the works! The twist: Will Smith won't be involved. Read more here and here.
  • Les Miserables was released on DVD this week—read our full review here.
  • Katherine Heigl and Patrick Wilson are attached to the upcoming Darko Entertainment dark comedy, North of Hell. Wilson will play a successful businessman, while Heigl stars as his controlling wife. More details here.
  • BREAKING: There's a third Hemsworth brother. His name is Luke. (His brother Liam played Peeta in The Hunger Games, and Chris is best known as Thor.) Luke will be starring in the upcoming detective movie The Reckoning. Read more about the third horseman of the Hemspocalypse in this interview.
  • The first trailer for The Wolverine is out. The newest installment in the Hugh Jackman franchise takes on the samurai genre by transporting the rugged hero to Japan. Read more about the project here.
