I would recommend:

What Happened to Sophie Wilder by Christopher R. Beha–a novel about young love and loss and faith written by an editor at Harper's Magazine.

Noticing God by Richard Peace–a short and simple book that does exactly what it's title implies, offering suggestions of how to recognize the imprint of the Holy One in every day life.

Momumental: Adventures in the Messy Art of Raising a Family by Jennifer Grant–a great summer read for any mother of young children who wants to be encouraged by this veteran writer and mother of four. Grant offers a grace-filled book of  wonderful stories about family life.

Praying for Strangers by River Jordan– kind of a "lectio divina" of the human spirit, in which Jordan recounts her year of praying for a different stranger every day and how it changed her life.

What It Is Is Beautiful by Sarah Dunning Park–a beautiful short book of poems about faith, family, and being a mother of small children. It made me think, laugh, and cry.

And on my bedside table:

The Cat's Table by Michael Ondaatje, one of my favorite novelists

A Mother's Rule of Life by Holly Pierlot

Testing Women, Testing the Fetus, by Rayna Rapp
