Understanding Self Esteem (3 session study)

Understanding Self Esteem (3 session study)

Knowing how much God loves us gives us confidence in our relationship with him and others.
3 Session Bible Study

Christians sometimes think that having good self-esteem makes us prideful and self-centered. However, just the opposite is true. As we come to terms with how God has made us and look for the worth he has ascribed to each of us, we will gain confidence in our relationships with him and everyone around us. This three-session course will help you get started.

Session One

What Is Self-Esteem?
Self-esteem is necessary to think rightly about God and others.
Psalm 103:8–16; Mark 7:14–23; 8:34–38; Romans 12:3–8

As we come to terms with how God has made us and look for the worth he has ascribed to each of us, we will gain confidence in our relationships with him and everyone around us.

Session Two

The Self and Others
The Bible is full of instructions about how we should relate to others.
Jeremiah 9:23–24; Matthew 5:43–48; John 13:1–17; Acts 10:9–22; Philippians 2:1–11

Scripture gives us an amazing challenge about the way we treat others. We are told to count others as better than ourselves. Even more astounding, we are told to love our enemies. Only in Christ can we do any of these things.

Session Three

The Self and Service
Many believers are handicapped in their service for God by their low self-esteem.
Exodus 3:10–14; 4:1–17; Jonah 4:1–11; Matthew 6:25–34; 10:16–20; 2 Corinthians 12:7–10; 2 Timothy 3:10–17

Many believers are not willing to step out into new areas of service, even when prompted to do so by the Holy Spirit. Their service is limited by their inability to trust God to be with them.
