When we recently surveyed 1,500 randomly selected subscribers on their beliefs about and practice of evangelism, we were surprised at the response: 60 percent took the time to fill out the four-page questionnaire. This was one of the best response rates to a CT survey ever, burying CTi research manager John LaRue in data and certifying the reliability of the results. Our readers are clearly interested in evangelism. The most significant results are analyzed by marketing and evangelism specialist James F. Engel beginning on page 35. Readers who want to see the tabulated responses to all the questions may send their request and a $20 check made payable to CTi to Evangelism Research, CTi, 465 Gundersen Dr., Carol Stream, IL 60188.

The corporate research department of Christianity Today, Inc., and CT’s editors did not craft the survey alone. J. David Schmidt, a Christian management consultant, the CT Research Fellows, and a large group of seminary evangelism professors helped formulate the questions.

The mails brought back not only the many hundreds of filled-out questionnaires, but also requests from subscribers wanting to use the survey in their own congregations. This has prompted CTi Research to offer its services to local churches who want to conduct this survey in their own areas. Request a free information packet by writing John LaRue at the above address or by calling 708/260-6200.
