Retiring John Stott, in July from public speaking ministry. Stott, 86, plans to move from London to south England, into a community for retired Anglican clergy. The author of Basic Christianity still plans to correspond with and receive visitors.
Selected Barry Corey, as president of Biola University, effective July 1. Corey, 45, succeeds Clyde Cook, who served as president of the school in La Mirada, California, since 1982. Before Biola, Corey worked for Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary as vice president/chief academic officer and academic dean.
Out Jeffrey Frichner, as president of Left Behind Games. Senior vice president David Klein also resigned in April from the company, which produces video games based on the bestselling book series. Its debut, Left Behind: Eternal Forces, received criticism for its violent content. Left Behind Games lost $4.1 million during its third quarter in 2006.
Resigned James Emery White, as president of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, effective July 1. White cited family considerations that precluded a move from Charlotte to the seminary's main campus in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. White will return to his previous role as senior pastor of Mecklenburg Community Church, which he founded in 1992. Preaching professor and former Denver Seminary president Haddon Robinson will serve as interim president.
Resigned Doug Lockhart, as president/CEO of Zondervan. Longtime executive Bruce Ryskamp, who retired in 2005, returned in June to serve as interim president/ceo of the Grand Rapidsbased publisher.
