Style: Urban worship; compare to Darwin Hobbs, Karen Clark Sheard, CeCe Winans
Top tracks: "Life in the Word," "Dwelling Place," "Home Inside My Praise"
Inaugurating his new label, gospel great Fred Hammond expands his famous urban worship brand by recording newcomers from his church's Warehouse Worship band on a treasure trove of Scripture in song. Inspiring believers' thirst for God's Word through music, Hammond alternates verse-based tunes musically indicative of his gold-selling catalog with laid-back R&B tracks imbedded with spoken word Bible recitations. Though avant-garde for Hammond, Life in the Word will likely appeal to his large listening base and gospel fans interested in scripture-heavy messages.
