Style: Worship rock; compare to Hillsong, Planetshakers, John Mark McMillan
Top tracks: "One Thing Remains," "Come Away," "Let It Rain"
Jesus Culture hits a high-water mark on their fifth and most uplifting release. Singers Kim Walker-Smith and Chris Quilala add emotional resonance to songs about God's love and sustaining power. Every song is a bite-sized power chorus, sometimes repeated too many times, yet it all seems genuine and heartfelt. The live concert, recorded at Bethel Church in California, has a rockier edge than Hillsong—think Sting or U2 playing at your local arena. Furious drums and sweltering guitar parts make the songs explode with energy—ten glorious epiphanies.
