Style: AC/worship, compare to Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe
Top Tracks: "You Are Love," "Blessings," "Faithful God"
Laura Story's newest album features congregation-friendly tunes with uncomplicated structure and chord progressions. "This Is the Day" and "What a Savior" are typical modern worship, primarily emphasizing God's praiseworthiness and deep love. But the tracks with less orchestration and more melodic piano lines more aptly illustrate Story's vocal and songwriting abilities. "Blessings" is the most poignant example, its quietness highlighting the divine function of pain to "remind us that this is not our home." Glimpses of Story's vulnerability on tracks like this one will keep Blessings from becoming "just another worship album."
