Sounds like: Faith-driven hip-hop; compare to Shad, Young Jeezy, Big K.R.I.T.

Top tracks: "Away," "You," "Wrath"

While other Christian hip-hop acts try to shoehorn in a modern production style with often unflattering results, Canadian rapper Nevahurd and his collaborators manage to use the slinky, street savvy sound to their advantage. The steely synths and slow rolling beats add a startling urgency to Nevahurd's proclamations of faith, pleas for forgiveness, and affecting poetic interludes. What it also shares with secular hip-hop albums is a tendency to stuff way too much into one album. As strong as it is, the hour-long running time allows chaff like the stumbling remix of "Devil Can't Have Me" that wraps up the disc.
