Style: Modern worship/pop; compare to Hillsong United, David Crowder Band, dc talk
Top tracks: "The King Is Coming," "God's Not Dead (Like a Lion)," "I Am Second"
On the heels of last year's regular studio CD Born Again comes Newsboys' latest worship record, which swaps the group's signature satire for an entirely vertical motif split between originals and covers. Though there's really nothing new or revolutionary about tried and true Hillsong United and Gateway Worship favorites, the band shines on its own material, especially the romping rockers. Frontman Michael Tait sounds even more muscular across throbbing world beats and a razor sharp rhythm section, while his longtime dc talk mate Kevin Max duets on two tracks. It's the group's most assertive praise disc to date.
