Style: Indie pop/rock; compare to Sara Bareilles, A Fine Frenzy, Vanessa Carlton

Top Tracks: "Do It Now," "In the Sea," "End of the World"

On Human Again, Michaelson's fifth studio album, the indie-pop artist takes a break from her "little ukelele songs" to experiment with an edgier sound backed by a full band. Giving up the acoustic singer/songwriter bit allows Michaelson to introduce immensely creative arrangements that span folk, soul, and even the slightest bit of '80s pop influences. While Kelly Clarkson-like angst permeates much of the album, themes of hope also emerge, with encouragement not to "waste a minute on darkness and pity" and a gentle reminder that life's pain is also deeply connected to its beauty.
