Reggae artist Vanessa Mardueno got her start opening for bands including Ozomatli and Quinto Sol before dedicating herself to ministry with husband Stephen Beyer in 2009. Their partnership produced a "Cali Roots Reggae" sound encapsulated here. The reggae album contains elements of jazz, latin, and folk to complement Mardueno's shameless proclamation of praises on standout tracks "Thank You Lord" and "I'm All Yours," while her band lays down grooves that are reminiscent of Bob Marley meets Shakira on "I Wanna Be." Guest artists Christafari and Dillavou add some extra spice to an album that begs for beach play.
