Sounds like: Enervating gospel hip-hop; compare to Jay-Z, GRITS, Da' T.R.U.T.H.
Top tracks: "Heart Song," "Church Clap," "Anomaly"
Christian hip-hop doesn't get more fist-pumpingly urgent and soulful as it does when Kevin Burgess, aka KB, is on the mic. His latest album sidles out of the gate with a bit of calm before a perfect storm of deeply felt beats and rhymes that shine the spotlight on Burgess' struggles with sin and faith. He doesn't let himself off the hook, nor does he let up on his listeners, urging them to seek solace in the light of the Lord, even during life's darkest moments. As all good Christian rap should, Weight & Glory leaves you with a charge in your spine and your hands in the air.
