Today is my 20th wedding anniversary. Donna has been the love of my life since high school. We started dating when we were 16 and never dated anyone else.
The first time I saw her, I knew I wanted to get to know her better. I had just started a Bible study in my high school (Lake Howell High School in Maitland, FL). Donna came late, wearing her (very adorable) softball uniform. About 2/3 through my study, she got up and left early--and I did not know why. (I found out later she was going to practice.)
When I found out more about her, I fell "head over heals." She had led several of her neighbors to Christ, had a gentle spirit that my life desperately needed, and had a passion for ministry.
We have done 3 church plants together, transitioned 2 established churches, finished 5 graduate degrees, and had three kids (and if you have done any of these, you know why I list them---your wife has taken on quite a burden).
I don't deserve her, but I am blessed that she loves me in spite of my faults. And, I love her more today than the day I married her.
We were 20 and way too young--but God had a plan. And I could not have asked for a better partner in life.
So, today, there is no work and no blogging--just a day with the love of my life...
