A Viral Video Indicates Why Rick Santorum is Winning in the Heartland and South

A pro-Santorum video was uploaded less than two weeks ago and already has over a million views. I've known of Senator Santroum for a long time as he was my Senator while I planted/pastored in Pennsylvania, but this recent surge of his is fascinating for many reasons. But, I thought this video expressed it well (and that is why people are watching and sharing it).

If this song is any judge, Santorum voters feel that we have lost control of our nation. They want "hope" like the had under Ronald Reagan, protection for the unborn, and a deeper respect for the constitution. They see Santorum as the answer. (The idea of "factories on our shores" continues to come up-- I'd like to see some politician tell the truth that most of the those jobs are not coming back).

I thought the video was interesting and at least partly explains why Romney has not been able to "seal the deal" with evangelicals, who are more heavily represented in these areas. Many of these voters think that the two President Bushes were establishment and they see Romney as the same. They don't want to go back to Bush, they want Reagan. Where I live in Tennessee republicans went for Santorum and that was largely driven by evangelicals whereas establishment Republicans are clearly behind Romney.

This video is by a "Christian country" duo, which, well, fits the demographic that Santorum is winning in these places (which, in and of itself, is fascinating since he is a Northeastern Roman Catholic). Take a look here:

Feel free to comment on politics, etc., but before you ask: I don't have a candidate to endorse or promote on the blog. I don't do politics here, but I do comment on trends-- particularly surprising ones among evangelicals and found this interesting (and telling).
